The North Korean U17 women’s soccer team clinched the 2025 International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) U17 Women’s World Cup title.

In a dominant display, the defending champions crushed the Netherlands 3-0 in the final match at the Olympic Stadium in Rabat, Morocco on November 9.

The rout began with Kim Won-shim’s opener in the 14th minute, followed by quick strikes from Park Rye-young in the 18th and Lee Gyeong in the 42nd, sealing a comprehensive victory.

With this triumph, North Korea extended their record-breaking run, adding a fourth title to their previous victories in 2008, 2016, and 2024, cementing their status as the powerhouse of youth women’s soccer.

North Korea’s campaign was nothing short of perfection, as they swept all seven matches across the group and knockout stages, netting an impressive 25 goals while conceding only 3.

Despite making history by reaching their first-ever final, the Netherlands found North Korea’s defensive wall impenetrable.

Earlier, in a thrilling third-place playoff, Mexico edged out Brazil in a penalty shootout after a 1-1 draw in regulation time, clinching the bronze with a 3-1 victory on spot-kicks.

North Korea’s dominance extended to individual accolades, with Yoo Jeong-hyang bagging both the Golden Ball (MVP) and Golden Boot awards for her tournament-leading 8 goals. Her teammate Kim Won-shim, with 7 goals to her name, secured the Silver Ball and Silver Boot honors.
