L’Oréal Group and the Pasteur Institute announced a new research partnership on Tuesday aimed at advancing skin health science.

The agreement marks the first official research collaboration for both institutions. The two organizations view skin as a key organ that reflects overall human health, well-being, and quality of life. Their joint efforts will focus on deepening the understanding of skin while accelerating the discovery of new biological targets and active ingredients for advanced skin health solutions.

The partnership will leverage L’Oréal’s expertise in skin science research and the Pasteur Institute’s capabilities in immunology, microbiome research, and skin biomarkers. This collaboration aims to better understand the roles of microorganisms and immunity in maintaining skin health.

As part of the research, scientists will explore the interactions between skin cells, symbiotic microorganisms, and the immune system. They will also examine how these interactions are linked to aging and overall health.

A spokesperson for L’Oréal Group said the collaboration has the potential to uncover important links between skin health and internal bodily functions, significantly advancing understanding of skin health and paving the way for new skincare solutions.
