A 30-year-old Chinese man has been implicated in the death of a woman following an illegal filler procedure, prompting a police investigation.

Pyeongtaek Police announced on Tuesday that they have filed criminal charges against the suspect, identified only as Mr. A, for negligent homicide and violating medical laws.

Mr. A allegedly administered an illegal filler injection to a 30-year-old Chinese woman, Ms. B, at a lodging facility in Pyeongtaek on April 30 around 3:30 p.m. (Korean time), resulting in her death.

He called emergency services reporting that Ms. B was in distress. She was rushed to a nearby hospital while still conscious but tragically passed away about two hours later.

Ms. B’s family has since filed a formal complaint against Mr. A with the authorities.

The National Forensic Service, which conducted the autopsy, provided an initial verbal report to the police, suggesting that pulmonary embolism was the likely cause of death.

Following a second autopsy, the forensic agency reportedly concluded that Ms. B’s symptoms were consistent with complications from cosmetic filler injections.

During police interrogation, Mr. A reportedly admitted to using messaging apps to recruit several women, including Ms. B, for illegal filler procedures while working at a massage parlor.

Law enforcement officials are continuing their investigation to uncover further details of the incident.
