HL Robotics announced on Thursday that it is ramping up its efforts to capture the parking and logistics market with its autonomous parking robots, PARKIE and STAN.

The company aims to unveil an integrated automation service that seamlessly connects parking, vehicle transfer, storage, and logistics by synergistically combining the technologies of both robots.

PARKIE is the world’s first indoor autonomous parking robot. After successfully completing trials at the Chungbuk Content Industry Support Center last September, it is now gearing up to offer autonomous parking services for visitors at Gimpo Airport. This marks PARKIE’s debut in demonstrating autonomous parking to the general public.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport’s recent amendments to parking lot regulations are expected to expand PARKIE’s potential applications. While current rules classify parking robots as mechanical parking devices, prohibiting their installation in residential areas, the government is pushing to relax these restrictions. This could pave the way for PARKIE’s introduction in apartment complexes and other multi-family housing units in the near future.

STAN, the world’s first outdoor autonomous parking robot, joined HL Robotics’ product lineup following the company’s acquisition of French robotics firm Stanley Robotics in 2024. STAN boasts a decade-long track record of operations at major transportation hubs, including London’s Gatwick Airport, Lyon Airport in France, and the Toronto Rail Logistics Center in Canada.

After STAN’s recent introduction to the South Korean market, HL Robotics is in talks to deploy the robot at key airports, ports, and logistics centers across the country.

STAN’s standout feature is its resilience in outdoor environments. Capable of withstanding extreme temperatures, it can transfer vehicles weighing up to 3 tons. A new iteration of STAN, featuring an updated design and enhanced capabilities, is set to be unveiled at the Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) World Congress in Gangneung this October.

Kim Yoon-ki, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of HL Robotics, noted that they’re seeing a surge in interest and demand for parking space optimization and vehicle logistics automation in the domestic market. Through PARKIE and STAN, it’s poised to actively create and pursue new business opportunities.
