The police have launched an investigation after discovering a live bullet in the carry-on luggage of a female Korean Air flight attendant who was preparing to board a flight to Thailand.

According to the Incheon Airport Police on the 4th, a live bullet was discovered in the carry-on bag of the flight attendant, who was preparing to board flight KE0657 bound for Bangkok at Terminal 2 of Incheon Airport around 7:30 AM on the 2nd.

The live bullet was discovered during the security screening process at Incheon Airport and promptly confiscated. During this process, the Incheon Airport Police Unit was supported by the Military Intelligence Command and the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team at Incheon Airport.

The flight attendant stated at the scene, “I didn’t realize I had placed a live bullet in my carry-on bag, which I picked up when moving house as a child,” before boarding the plane.

The police allowed the flight attendant to depart temporarily to prevent flight delays and planned to gather detailed information about the incident upon her return.

A police official stated, “We intend to accurately ascertain the circumstances of the incident once the flight attendant returns,” adding, “We have not yet confirmed whether the discovered bullet is intended for a handgun or a rifle.”

An official from Korean Air stated, “We are currently investigating the circumstances of the incident internally,” emphasizing, “We intend to fully cooperate with the police investigation upon the return of the flight attendant.”
