Following the recent shooting incident involving former U.S. President Donald Trump, South Korean authorities increased police presence at the convention for the ruling People Power Party (PPP).
On the 15th, the Chungnam Police Agency deployed around 90 officers, including the riot police and detective squads, to the Yu Gwan Sun Gymnasium in Cheonan, Chungnam, where the joint speech meeting was held in the afternoon.
In response to the PPP’s request, the police strengthened security for the candidates and improved safety measures at the site, taking into account incidents like the assassination attempt on Trump.
The joint speech meeting gathered not only the leader candidates, including Na Kyung Won, Won Hee Ryong, Yoon Sang Hyun, and Han Dong Hoon but also candidates for the supreme council and youth supreme council.
