South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol is set to hold a second summit with Japanese Prime Minister Ishiba Shigeru on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit.

According to the South Korean Presidential Office, Yoon and Ishiba will meet on Friday in Lima, Peru, for the South Korea-Japan summit. This meeting follows their recent encounter at the ASEAN summit on October 10, marking another step in reinforcing diplomatic ties.

As the two countries near the 60th anniversary of their diplomatic relations next year, Yoon and Ishiba are expected to reaffirm their commitment to strengthening South Korea-Japan relations.

President Yoon will also join a trilateral summit with U.S. President Joe Biden and Prime Minister Ishiba, marking 15 months since the last trilateral meeting at Camp David. Additionally, discussions are underway to set up bilateral talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping and U.S. President-elect Donald Trump.
