On Tuesday, Kia will open orders for its flagship electric SUV, the EV9. The lineup includes the high-performance EV9 GT and the more practical, economical EV9 Standard. Kia has also adjusted the pricing for the existing EV9 Long Range trims to boost market competitiveness.
The EV9 GT’s front and rear motors deliver a combined output of 374 kW (509 horsepower) and 740 Nm (546 lb-ft) peak torque. It accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.5 seconds. Equipped with a 99.8 kWh fourth-generation high-voltage battery, it offers a range of 253 miles on a single charge.
For the first time in a Kia SUV, the EV9 features a preview electronic control suspension and comes standard with an electronic limited-slip differential (e-LSD) for improved driving dynamics. The vehicle is fitted with four-piston monoblock calipers and large brake discs, providing stopping power to match its acceleration and a maximum regenerative braking force of 0.6G.
The second row features premium relaxation seats with dynamic body care, while the third row offers power reclining and folding functions for added versatility. Kia has also introduced a USB Type-C charging port that supports 100W fast charging (with a provided cable) and includes advanced features like i-PEDAL 3.0.
The EV9 also boasts a dedicated cluster theme, a Meridian premium sound system, and an exclusive e-Audio Sound Design (e-ASD) linked to a virtual gear shifting system (VGS). The front bumper features active air flaps with a vertical pattern, while a slim black roof rack adds a sporty touch.
A Standard model with a 76.1 kWh battery has also been introduced. It offers a driving range of 374 km on a single charge and has the same safety and convenience features as the Long-Range model. Additionally, Kia has adjusted the pricing of the existing EV9 Long-Range models to enhance their market competitiveness further.
After applying eco-friendly vehicle tax incentives, the EV9 is priced as follows: the Standard starts at approximately KRW 64.12 million ($48,000), the Long Range at about KRW68.57 million ($51,000), the GT Line at KRW 79.17 million ($59,000), and the GT at KRW 88.49 million ($66,000). Considering federal and state EV incentives, the Standard Air trim in Seoul is expected to be available for around KRW 61 million ($45,000).
