On Thursday, Hankook Tire & Technology Co., Ltd. announced it will supply its electric vehicle (EV) specific all-season tire, the iON Evo AS SUV, as original equipment (OE) for Lucid Motors’ large electric sports utility vehicle (SUV), the Lucid Gravity, in North America.

The Lucid Gravity, fitted with the iON Evo AS SUV, is a recently launched pure electric grand touring (GT) SUV in the U.S. It boasts impressive performance, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h (60 mph) in just 3.5 seconds with a maximum output of 828 horsepower.

Hankook Tire collaborated closely with Lucid Motors to develop a tire specifically optimized for high-performance large electric SUVs. The tire leverages specialized technology from Hankook’s EV tire brand iON, delivering exceptional performance in key areas such as noise reduction, energy efficiency, grip, low rotational resistance, and mileage.

The tire’s design addresses the unique challenges of electric SUVs, particularly those with large batteries. It evenly distributes ground pressure to prevent irregular wear patterns, even under high loads. Compared to previous iON models, the new tire offers 25% improved lateral stiffness and 20% enhanced cornering rigidity, ensuring excellent stability during high-speed driving.

iON’s specialized low-noise tread pattern was implemented that significantly reduces road noise, cutting specific frequency noise by up to 9 dB during operation. The tire also features an advanced compound that combines high-concentration silica with eco-friendly materials. This innovative mixture provides outstanding grip across a wide range of conditions, including dry and wet roads, as well as various winter driving scenarios, according to Hankook Tire.
