Hyundai Motor Group Chairman Chung Eui-sun congratulated employees for celebrating Kia’s EV3 winning the World Car of the Year award.
According to industry sources on Monday, Chairman Chung posted a message on the company’s internal network on April 25, congratulating Kia for winning the World Car of the Year for the second consecutive year and Hyundai’s Casper Electric for being named World Electric Vehicle (EV) of the Year.
The EV3 was crowned World Car of the Year (WCOTY) at the 2025 World Car Awards at the New York International Auto Show earlier this month. This victory marks Kia’s second consecutive WCOTY win, following last year’s success with the EV9. HMG secured two major titles, clinching both the WCOTY and World EV of the Year awards.
In his message, Chairman Chung highlighted that HMG has been recognized in the WCOTY awards five times over the past six years, achieving an unprecedented four consecutive wins in the EV category. He attributed this remarkable success to the seamless collaboration across all company divisions, including product planning, development, design, purchasing, production, quality, sales, and the group’s steel, logistics, and finance sectors.
He further praised the employee’s achievement, saying it is due to the passion and dedication in delivering value that surpasses customer expectations.

Chairman Chung emphasized that Kia’s back-to-back WCOTY wins with the EV9 and EV3 hold significance beyond mere accolades. He noted that this global recognition of Kia’s DNA, which has been forged through a history of relentless innovation since its inception with bicycle parts in 1944, marks a pivotal moment in the journey to becoming a world-class automotive brand. He added that this accomplishment successfully carries Kia’s unique challenge and commitment heritage through modern innovation, demonstrating the overwhelming competitiveness in the global market.
In conclusion, Chairman Chung emphasized that Hyundai is at the forefront of the global automotive industry through its continuous pursuit of challenges and innovations. He noted that this moment is not the company’s final destination and urged everyone to embrace the “Great but Greater” philosophy to create an even more exciting future beyond current achievements. He added that he is committed to continuing this innovation journey alongside all employees.
