Hyundai Motor Group announced on Thursday that it will officially launch the 2025 season of its HMG Driving Experience Center, the largest facility of its kind in South Korea, starting March 28.
Located in Taean, Chungcheongnam-do, the center features the Korea Technoring test track, spanning approximately 1.26 million square meters (13.6 million sq. ft.), a two-story customer facility covering 9,917 square meters (106,760 sq. ft.), and eight specialized driving courses designed to enhance various driving skills.
The eight courses include a braking course, dry and wet surface circuits, a 4.6-kilometer (2.86-mile) high-speed track, a multi-purpose course for gymkhana and slalom, a wet skid pad for drift training, a kick plate course for emergency handling, and an off-road section for SUVs featuring inclines, gravel, sand, bumps, and water crossings.
Gymkhana challenges drivers to navigate a course lined with cones, testing acceleration, braking, and cornering skills. Slalom requires weaving through evenly spaced cones to develop precision and control. Drifting teaches drivers to maintain control while intentionally oversteering through corners. The kick plate course simulates sudden loss of traction using a movable surface, helping drivers master emergency recovery techniques.
Hyundai Motor Group expanded its driving programs this year, offering hands-on training and immersive spectator experiences. The Driving Experience program provides structured training from beginner levels to professional racing techniques. In contrast, the Driving Pleasure program allows participants of all ages to enjoy driving in a more relaxed setting.
Among the Driving Experience programs, the Basic Drive course has been newly introduced for beginner drivers, featuring the Hyundai Casper Electric and Kia EV4 to help participants build essential driving skills. The N Drift Level 2 program is an advanced version of the existing N Drift course, allowing drivers to refine more complex drifting techniques using the high-performance features of the Ioniq 5 N. Additionally, the Track Experience Program, a top-tier circuit driving program, will now be available at Inje Speedium in Gangwon Province and Yeongam KIC Circuit, expanding beyond its previous single location.
For adventure seekers, the Tasman Intensive program will offer a unique two-day experience combining off-road driving and camping, featuring Kia’s first pickup truck, the Tasman. To cater to families, a Kids Lounge has been added, and a Junior Driving Experience Program will be available, allowing children to control vehicles via an app for an interactive learning experience.
Since its opening in September 2022, the HMG Driving Experience Center has welcomed over 18,000 visitors in 2024 alone. The 2025 season will run through November 30, and reservations and detailed program information are available on the center’s official website.
