A renowned essayist with over 110,000 followers is reportedly being investigated for allegedly hitting his girlfriend with a car.
According to the Munhwa Ilbo on the 19th, the victim’s girlfriend stated, “After a fight, I blocked his car, but he just pushed me aside and drove off.”
However, the author denied the allegations, claiming she jumped into the path of his car in a self-harming provocation.
In response, the Gimpo Police Station in Gyeonggi Province has investigated the author for a particular assault.
According to the police, the author is accused of hitting his girlfriend with his Jeep after a drunken argument at a campsite in Gimpo City around May of last year. The police have referred the case to the prosecutor’s office several times, but it is understood that the prosecutor has ordered supplementary investigations.
The media described the author as “a figure who emerged in the literary world in 2017 and gained popularity among the younger generation with his unique warm writing style. He has published 12 books, including essays, mainly through social networking sites.”
Regarding the incident, the victim’s legal representative, Attorney Park Sung Hyun, said, “The victim, a yoga instructor, had difficulties teaching for several months due to this incident. Despite this, the author denies responsibility for the incident and continues to portray himself as a kind person on social media, posting essays that cause secondary harm to the victim.”
