Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, plans to significantly reduce his involvement with the U.S. Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) starting in May.

The Verge reported that during the first-quarter earnings call, Musk said, “I think I’ll continue to spend a day or two per week on government matters for as long as the president would like me to do so, and for as long as it is useful, but starting next month, I’ll be allocating far more of my time to Tesla, now that the major work of establishing the Department of Government Efficiency is done.”

Recently, Tesla investors have been urging Musk to step back from the controversial DOGE project and pay more attention to Tesla, which has been experiencing a slump in sales.

As a special advisor to the U.S. President Donald Trump administration, Musk is limited to 130 days of activity at the White House. According to The Washington Post, rumors are circulating that Musk may leave the White House, with sources suggesting that his influence appears to wane.
