Hyundai Motor Company has announced an extension of its partnership with the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) until 2037.

The collaboration between Hyundai and LACMA, which began in 2015, has supported eight groundbreaking exhibitions, from the immersive Rain Room to last October’s thought-provoking Tavares Strachan: The Day Tomorrow Began.

Over the past decade, Hyundai has been a key sponsor of LACMA’s innovative Art + Technology Lab, backing an impressive 45 artist projects that push the boundaries of creativity and innovation.

Coinciding with the partnership extension announcement, Hyundai and LACMA unveiled their latest brainchild: the Hyundai Project, a fresh exhibition series set to dazzle art enthusiasts.

This cutting-edge program will spotlight artists with ties to Los Angeles and the Pacific Rim, offering an intimate look at their artistic journey and debuting their latest works at LACMA. Mark your calendars for 2028 when this biennial event kicks off!

Get ready for some serious curb appeal – the exterior of LACMA’s BCAM building will be transformed into a canvas, featuring larger-than-life banner works by the featured artists.

Hyundai isn’t stopping there – they’re doubling down on their commitment to the Art + Technology Lab. Starting this spring, they’ll be on the hunt for visionary artist projects that blend art and tech in mind-blowing ways, with a biennial call for proposals.

Art lovers, rejoice! Hyundai and LACMA are cooking up regular public programs, including symposiums and demo days, giving you a front-row seat to the artists’ creative process and experimental journeys.

Chung Eui-sun, Chairman of Hyundai Motor Group, shared his excitement: Its long-standing partnership with LACMA has been a game-changer, fostering the fusion of art and technology while putting Korean art on the global map. They’re thrilled to continue supporting artists’ wildest dreams and creating more opportunities for art enthusiasts to connect with groundbreaking works.

LACMA Director Michael Govan couldn’t agree more, adding that thanks to its collaboration with Hyundai, they’ve taken the exhibitions and collections to new heights, while opening doors for up-and-coming creators through cutting-edge research and experimentation. They’re over the moon about this next chapter with Hyundai, as it continues to push the envelope of artistic innovation and expand the global conversation around art.
