Webtoon Entertainment, the North American arm of Naver Webtoon, has clinched the 4th spot in the Media and News category of Fast Company’s Most Innovative Companies in the World for 2026 list, announced on Tuesday by the prestigious American business publication.

This marks a repeat triumph for the company, following its impressive showing in 2023 when it secured the 8th position overall and topped the media category.

Fast Company, a leading U.S. business magazine, covers a wide range of topics including technology, management, economics, business, and design. Since 2008, it has been recognizing companies that pioneer innovative business models and corporate cultures, publishing annual rankings of the top 50 innovative companies globally across 59 industries and sectors.

The publication lauded Webtoon Entertainment for successfully crafting a two-way ecosystem that not only expands webtoons into Hollywood IP but also adapts major global franchises into the webtoon format, praising the company’s robust content ecosystem.

Webtoon Entertainment has sparked a cultural revolution by creating a platform and ecosystem that enables anyone to share their stories with a global readership. The company’s flywheel strategy, which fosters a virtuous cycle among creators, content, and users, has propelled webtoons into a new category within the global entertainment landscape.

The company’s intellectual property (IP) ventures are gaining traction beyond South Korea in the international market. Stagtown, an original English-language webtoon, is slated for a live-action adaptation by LuckyChap, the production company founded by actress Margot Robbie. Additionally, Prime Video has greenlit an animated series based on the hit English-language webtoon Lore Olympus.

Leveraging its strong IP portfolio and creative ecosystem, Webtoon Entertainment has distributed a staggering 4.15 trillion KRW (approximately 2.7 billion USD) in revenue to creators worldwide from 2021 through last year. The company plans to invest over 70 billion KRW (about 46 million USD) this year in discovering new works and supporting creators.

Kim Yong-soo, President of Webtoon Entertainment, expressed his gratitude, stating that they’re deeply honored to receive this recognition again after the 2023 accolade. This acknowledgment underscores the sustained efforts to expand the digital storytelling ecosystem in collaboration with the creator community. It also validates the strength of the IP, which is poised to evolve into next-generation franchises, backed by a passionate global fanbase.
