President Donald Trump lauded Tim Cook, the outgoing Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Apple, who is set to step down this September.
In a lengthy post on his social media platform Truth Social on Tuesday, Trump hailed Cook as an exceptional executive and leader. He went as far as to suggest that even if Steve Jobs had lived longer and continued to run the company, he might not have achieved the same level of success as Cook’s tenure.
Trump recounted that early in his first term, Cook reached out to him regarding a major issue that only the President could resolve.
Reflecting on this, Trump remarked that most people would have shelled out millions to consultants. He remembers thinking, Wow, Tim Apple (Cook!) is calling! What a big deal!’ He was genuinely impressed with himself.
The former President noted that throughout his five-year term, Cook maintained appropriate contact. After three or four significant instances of assistance, Trump found himself telling others that this guy is truly remarkable.
However, Trump also mentioned that he refrained from helping when Cook’s requests became excessively aggressive.
Wrapping up his post, Trump praised Cook’s incomparable career trajectory, expressing confidence in Cook’s future endeavors at Apple and beyond. He succinctly described Cook as an incredible guy.
Earlier, Apple announced that John Ternus, who has been leading the hardware division, will succeed Cook as CEO. Ternus is slated to assume the role on September 1, while Cook will transition to the position of chairman of the board.
