On Wednesday, the second comprehensive special investigation team, led by special prosecutor Kwon Chang-young, summoned former intelligence commander Noh Sang-won for questioning. This follows three major special investigations into allegations of insurrection, the Kim Keon Hee scandal, and the deceased Marine incident.

The team began interrogating Noh, who is suspected of organizing a criminal organization, at 10:00 a.m. (Korean time).

Noh allegedly established an unofficial group called Investigation Team 2 under the Joint Investigation Headquarters through a clandestine meeting at a hamburger restaurant prior to the December 3 martial law declaration.

He is currently facing charges for directing the intelligence agency to select 46 elite operatives to form Investigation Team 2. This team was reportedly tasked with investigating alleged election fraud from September to December 2024. Noh is also accused of extracting these operatives’ personal information.

Previously, the comprehensive special investigation team charged Noh, along with former intelligence commanders Moon Sang-ho and Jeong Seong-wook, and former intelligence business unit chief Kim Bong-kyu, with organizing a criminal organization.

During today’s questioning, the special investigation team is expected to probe Noh about the motives and circumstances surrounding the formation of Investigation Team 2.
