A recent survey has found that digital assets (cryptocurrencies) make up an average of 10% of wealthy investors’ portfolios. Over half of these affluent investors hold digital assets, with a clear trend towards long-term value appreciation and diversification rather than short-term speculation.

On Monday, CoinShares, a digital asset management firm, released the results of a survey conducted among 2,230 investors from seven countries – the U.S., United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Sweden, and Switzerland. Each participant held investable assets worth over 500,000 USD.

The study revealed that in all seven countries, more than 50% of wealthy investors owned digital assets, with four countries reporting ownership rates approaching 70%. On average, digital assets comprised 10% of their overall investment portfolios.

A notable finding was the shift in investors’ perceptions of digital assets.

The main reasons cited for holding digital assets were long-term value appreciation and portfolio diversification. In contrast, speculation ranked lowest among motivations. Only 6% of respondents classified themselves as primarily short-term traders.

Interestingly, recent price fluctuations in the digital asset market have not significantly dampened investor enthusiasm.

Across all seven countries surveyed, more respondents reported increased interest in digital assets following price declines, rather than decreased interest.

The intention to expand investments was also strong. In five of the seven countries, over 85% of current digital asset holders indicated plans to increase their holdings this year.
