Air Premia revealed on Thursday that their wide premium seat occupancy rates for U.S. West Coast routes have outperformed those of economy seats.

From January to September, the Los Angeles route saw wide premium seats at 83.2% occupancy, surpassing economy class (80.1%) by 3.1 percentage points. The San Francisco route followed suit, with wide premium seats at 81.2%, beating economy seats (78.2%) by 3 percentage points.

Wide premium seats, often dubbed premium economy, bridge the gap between business and economy classes. For Air Premia, these seats represent the highest tier available across all routes, as they don’t offer a separate business class.

Air Premia’s wide premium seats boast an impressive 42-46 inch pitch, 20-inch width, and a generous 13-inch personal monitor. The airline claims these seats are a hit among long-haul travelers, offering business-class comfort at a fraction of the price.

The perks don’t stop at comfort. Wide premium passengers enjoy Very Important Person (VIP) treatment with dedicated check-in counters, priority boarding, and first-off baggage handling. For those jetting across the Pacific, the airline allows two checked bags up to 32 kg (about 70.5 lb) each – perfect for extended stays or business trips.

Air Premia currently operates its international routes exclusively with the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner. These state-of-the-art aircraft come equipped with in-flight entertainment systems and charging ports at every seat, ensuring passengers stay connected and entertained on long-haul flights. This commitment to quality earned Air Premia a spot in the top 10 World’s Best Long-Haul Low-Cost Airlines at this year’s Skytrax World Airline Awards.

As the only Korean low-cost carrier braving long-haul U.S. routes, Air Premia is making waves in the industry. Since its Los Angeles debut in October 2022, the airline has expanded its American dream to include New York (May 2023), San Francisco (coming May 2024), Honolulu (July 2025), and Washington D.C. (April this year).
