The long-awaited meeting between Yang Hyun Suk, the executive producer of YG Entertainment, and 2NE1 has finally taken place, marking their first reunion as a full group in approximately eight years.
According to YG Entertainment on the 28th, Yang Hyun Suk and 2NE1 held a meeting on the afternoon of the 27th at the YG Entertainment Headquarters in Hapjeong-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul.
Yang warmly welcomed each of the four 2NE1 members, and according to YG Entertainment, the official meeting lasted about two hours and consisted of significant conversations.
2NE1 holds a special significance within YG Entertainment. While BLACKPINK has solidified its position as the world’s top girl group and BabyMonster’s successful debut, 2NE1 represents the very beginning of YG’s girl group lineage, embodying the YG DNA.
This meeting between Yang and 2NE1 has garnered special attention not only for being a private external gathering but also because it was the members’ first official meeting at the YG Entertainment Headquarters.
Furthermore, the members’ decision to approach Yang to celebrate their 15th debut anniversary suggests a high possibility of a new 2NE1 project, attracting global attention and interest.
YG stated, “As this is the first conversation between Yang and the 2NE1 members in eight years, no specific plans have been made yet. However, Yang, who has a special affection for 2NE1, listened empathetically to the members’ requests. We hope to deliver good news to the fans soon.”
Meanwhile, 2NE1, who debuted in 2009 with the single “Fire,” has received a lot of love for releasing numerous hit songs such as “I Don’t Care,” “Go Away,” “Lonely,” “Ugly,” “Come Back Home,” “I Am the Best,” and “Can’t Nobody.”
