Shin Woo Seok, the acclaimed director behind NewJeans’ hit music videos and Dolphiners Film’s CEO calls out ADOR for what he describes as a breach of their agreement. In a heated social media post, Shin accused ADOR’s CEO Kim Joo Young and Vice President Lee Do Kyung of dishonesty, asserting that he has evidence, including recordings and emails, that counter their claims.
Shin’s post read, “CEO Kim Joo Young, Vice President Lee Do Kyung, I have recordings and emails to prove my case. Stop misleading the public. ADOR’s statement suggests I’m spreading false information, but why are you trying so hard to appease me behind the scenes?”
He further clarified, “I have sought legal advice, and it’s clear that according to our previous agreement, the ownership of the Ban Hee Soo channel belongs to Dolphiners Film. However, rights to the channel are not particularly important to us. As long as the Ban Hee Soo channel continues to exist as an extension of our work, that’s enough for us. The channel was originally created for the NewJeans fans without expecting anything in return, and I no longer want to see fans anxious about the channel being permanently deleted amidst these disputes.”
Shin’s demand is straightforward: an apology. He stated, “I am seeking an apology for the disrespect shown, the breach of our agreement, and the defamation against Dolphiners Film and myself. If an apology is issued by the end of the day, I will transfer the Ban Hee Soo channel to ADOR. However, it must remain unchanged—no deletions, modifications, or additions; it should be preserved exactly as it is.”
Dolphiners Film, known for directing NewJeans’ popular videos like “Ditto,” “OMG,” and “ETA,” had set up the Ban Hee Soo YouTube channel specifically to feature content related to the group. The director’s cut of the “ETA” music video was recently released through the YouTube channel.
However, on the second day of the month, following ADOR’s request, the videos were removed. Shin reported that he could no longer share the content due to ADOR’s directive.
ADOR responded on September 3, clarifying their stance. They explained that the director’s cut of the “ETA” music video, posted without prior consultation, included disputed edits. According to ADOR, the copyright for NewJeans’ music videos and related content rests with them; hence, the video and its edits need to be published on their official channels.
They added, “ADOR only requested Dolphiners Film to stop posting the director’s cut video and did not demand the deletion or suspension of all videos related to NewJeans on the Ban Hee Soo channel. Additionally, ADOR’s channel management policy has not changed.”
They also countered Shin’s claims, stating, “Director Shin Woo Seok is misrepresenting the situation by alleging that ADOR requested the removal of all content related to NewJeans. We regret Dolphiners Film’s breach of contract and dissemination of misinformation.”
