K-pop artist G-Dragon reveals changes in his life over the past seven years on Kim Eana’s Starry Night.
On Monday at 10 p.m., G-Dragon appeared as a guest on MBC FM4U’s Kim Eana’s Starry Night (hereafter referred to as Starry Night) to promote his new digital single “POWER.”
On October 31, G-Dragon surprised fans by releasing his new track, “POWER,” garnering significant attention. Marking his return after a hiatus of seven years and four months, he reflected, “I definitely feel like time passes faster as I get older.” He admitted to noticing the gap, particularly during dance practice, confessing, “My mind and heart feel the same, but I used to learn choreography quickly. Now, it feels like I can’t keep up.”
When asked about plans for a personalized lightstick for his fans, G-Dragon responded, “I have thought about it.” DJ Kim Eana encouraged him to expand on the idea, joking, “Please make plenty of goods for both your loyal and new fans.” G-Dragon further excited listeners by confirming plans for an upcoming concert.
He also discussed the creative process behind writing the lyrics for “POWER,” stating that completing them took him quite a while. “I couldn’t write them all at once, but the melody came to me quite easily,” he said, sharing behind-the-scenes details. Kim Eana praised his lyrical abilities, describing him as a master of wordplay and noting his talent for blending homonyms, Korean, and English. G-Dragon revealed that he draws inspiration from his unique way of speaking, which can sometimes make even Korean sound like a foreign language. Kim Eana also noted that while the message in “POWER” is profound, G-Dragon arranged it in an approachable way, describing it as quintessentially G-Dragon.
Kim Eana shared that she had personally invited G-Dragon to appear on Starry Night during a casual meeting and reminisced about first meeting him during Big Bang’s debut album. She commented, “There hasn’t been much change in your pronunciation since then. You spoke in a rap-like style, though your tone of voice is deeper now.” G-Dragon agreed, noting, “When I record, I warm up my voice, and it changes during the process. It feels like I’ve gained another voice.”
Meanwhile, MBC FM4U’s Kim Eana’s Starry Night airs daily at 10 p.m.
