(G)I-DLE member Yuqi is set to release her digital single “Radio (Dum-Dum)” on Monday.

Cube Entertainment confirmed that Yuqi’s new single will be available on all major streaming platforms at 6 PM (KST).

“Radio (Dum-Dum)” is a self-composed track by Yuqi that uses the radio metaphor to express her feelings toward a past lover. The song features a medium-tempo boom-bap beat driven by a rhythmic acoustic guitar and bassline. Yuqi’s smooth, low-pitched voice blends effortlessly with the trendy melody, creating a fresh, unique sound that merges hip-hop and R&B.

The track has been highly anticipated since its first performance during (G)I-DLE’s third world tour last year. A special clip released afterward further fueled fan interest. Despite not being officially available, the song was used in advertisements, quickly gaining popularity and demanding an official release.

Reflecting on the upcoming release, Yuqi expressed her gratitude, saying, “I’m so grateful for all the love Radio (Dum-Dum) has received, even before its official release. It’s been six months since the special clip dropped, and my team and I have put in a lot of effort to bring this digital single to life finally.”

When asked about the inspiration behind the song, Yuqi explained, “I was listening to a hip-hop beat, and suddenly I envisioned people in the early 2000s, in that Y2K vibe, listening to the radio on the street. The melody in the chorus, Dum-Dum, reminded me of the sound of a radio, and that’s how the track came together.”

Yuqi also shared her thoughts on the song’s standout features, smiling, “I think the addictive melody and my husky, low-pitched voice are probably what makes it so special.”
