Male K-POP group Seventeen has won six Japan Gold Disc Awards awards!
According to the list of winners of the 38th Japan Gold Disc Awards announced by the Japan Record Association on the 13th, Seventeen won the Best Asian Artist category.
In addition, they swept the Best Three Albums Award in the Asian category with their 10th mini-album FML, the Japanese best album Always Yours, and the 11th mini-album Seventeenth Heaven. FML also won Album of the Year in the Asian category. Seventeen’s World Tour, “Be the Sun Japan,” featuring live concert performances, won the Music Video of the Year in the Asian category, recording six awards for Seventeen.
Seventeen’s wins are meaningful as it is the first time the group has won the Best Asian Artist category at the Japan Gold Disc Awards, given to the most active Asian artist of the year. It is also the first time in the awards’ history that a single artist monopolized the Best Three Albums in the Asian category with three works, which highlights Seventeen’s unrivaled popularity in Japan.
Seventeen said, “We are happy to receive such an honorable award,” and thanked “Carats (the name of the official fandom) who always support Seventeen, and everyone who loves our music.” They also expressed their feelings, saying, “We will strive to come back with better music in the future.”
The Japan Gold Disc Awards, which started in 1987, is an awards ceremony hosted by the Japan Record Association to honor artists and their works that have contributed to the development of the record industry. The winning artists and works in each category are selected based on the sales performance of albums and music videos released throughout the year, streaming play performance, and more.
Meanwhile, Seventeen will hold an encore tour, Seventeen Tour Follow Again, at large stadiums in Korea and Japan. This tour will be held eight times in four cities, starting at the Incheon Asiad Main Stadium on the 30th and 31st of this month, Seoul World Cup Stadium on April 27th and 28th, Yanmar Stadium Nagai in Osaka on May 18th and 19th, and Nissan Stadium in Kanagawa on May 25th and 26th.
