Professional golfer Chris Gotterup from the United States has tasted the joy of his first-ever victory on the PGA Tour.

On May 13 (KST), Gotterup scored a 4-under-par 67 in the final fourth round of the Myrtle Beach Classic (total prize money of $4 million) held at The Dunes Golf and Beach Club (Par 71) in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. He achieved this score with one eagle, six birdies, and four pars. With a final total of 22-under-par 262, Gotterup comfortably beat Alistair Docherty (16-under-par) of the United States to claim the top spot.

Gotterup, who won his first PGA Tour victory, claimed prize money of $720,000. This win guarantees him a spot in the PGA Championship, a major tournament starting next week.

The tournament was a competition for players who did not qualify for the Wells Fargo Championship (total prize money of $20 million), a high-profile PGA Tour event held at the same time. Unfortunately, Korean players are left with regrets.

Seung Yul Noh tied for 32nd with a final total of 9-under-par 275 while Sung Hyun Kim tied for 50th with a final total of 5-under-par 279.
