A man in his 50s, who held a grudge after being fired, has been arrested for draining the water from the fish tanks at the farm where he used to work and causing the death of hundreds of flatfish.

The Seogwipo Police Station in Jeju announced on the 22nd that they are investigating a man in his 50s on charges of property damage and break-in and entering.

According to the police, the man snuck into a flatfish farm in Daejeong-eup, Seogwipo City, Jeju, around midnight on the 10th, draining the water from the tanks, and shutting off the water supply, causing the death of about 400 flatfish.

The police investigation revealed that the man was an employee at the farm and committed the crime out of resentment for a recently suggested resignation.

The man entered the aquafarm through a blind spot in the CCTV coverage and hid beside the tanks. The farm owner discovered him and subsequently arrested him on the spot.
