Youth representatives from North Korea and Russia gathered to emphasize “solidarity” and “bonds” and agreed to strengthen future exchanges and cooperation.

On June 7, Rodong Sinmun reported, “The North Korea-Russia youth friendship exchange meeting took place at the Youth Central Hall on June 6.” Participants who are visiting North Korea included Mun Chol, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Socialist Patriotic Youth League, youth league workers, students from Pyongyang, and members of the Russian youth delegation led by Grigory Petushkov, Chairman of the Russian Youth Union National Council.

Moon emphasized in his speech, “It will be an important opportunity to clearly show the solidarity and bonds between the youth of the two countries and fully develop exchanges and cooperation.”

Petushkov said, “We will make a substantial contribution to the development of traditional friendly cooperative relations, respecting the noble will of the two countries’ leaders.” The media evaluated the meeting, saying, “It well demonstrated the fervent aspirations and will of the two countries’ youth to inherit and develop the history and tradition of the North Korea-Russia friendship that was established and solidified in the joint struggle for anti-imperialism.”

The media also reported that the Russian youth delegation visited Kim Il Sung University, the Tower of the Juche Idea, the International Friendship Exhibition Hall, the Victorious War Museum and toured Limheung Street and Vanguard Street.

It is reported that the Russian youth delegation arrived in Pyongyang on June 3.

North Korea and Russia are actively conducting youth exchanges and political, military, economic, and cultural cooperation. The North Korean youth representatives also visited Russia in February and April.
