Max Scherzer, a three-time MLB Cy Young Award winner, demonstrated near-perfect pitching in his first game of the season after undergoing back surgery for a herniated disc.

On the 24th (Korean time), Scherzer started the home game against the Kansas City Royals at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas. Throwing only 57 pitches over 5 innings, he recorded 1 hit, 4 strikeouts, and no runs. Riding on Scherzer’s strong pitching, Texas defeated Kansas City 4-0.

Scherzer, who focused on rehabilitation after back surgery in December last year, secured his first victory of the season in his return match.

Scherzer showcased aggressive pitching that day, recording 39 strikes out of 57 pitches.

He also secured 4 strikeouts and recorded a career total of 3371 strikeouts, tying him with Greg Maddux for 11th place in this category. Among active pitchers, he comes in second after Justin Verlander of the Houston Astros.
