Samsung Electronics’ largest labor union, the National Samsung Electronics Union (NSEU), is preparing to commence its second general strike. In contrast to the previous three-day strike, this one is scheduled to be indefinite.

The NSEU announced on the 10th, “We will declare a second indefinite strike after confirming the company’s lack of willingness to engage in dialogue following the first strike.” The second round of strikes will commence on the 11th.

The first general strike lasted for three days from the 8th until the 10th. According to the NSEU, a total of 6,540 members have expressed their intention to participate in the first general strike.

In declaring the second general strike, the NSEU presented demands that include: a guarantee of one-day union establishment leave for all union members, a 3.5% increase in Base-UP for all union members, improvements to the bonus (OPI·TAI) system, and compensation for all economic losses incurred by union members due to the unpaid strike.
