North Korean leader Kim Jong Un visited the accommodations for flood victims who arrived in Pyongyang.

The state-run newspaper, Rodong Sinmun, dedicated its first three pages to this story. According to the newspaper, over 13,000 flood victims from North Pyongan, Jagang, and Yanggang Provinces arrived in Pyongyang yesterday and settled into their accommodations.

During his visit, Kim expressed his commitment in a welcoming speech: “We will do our utmost with the highest sincerity to ensure that health and peace are the absolute priorities, allowing everyone to choose activities that please them and enjoy them in good spirits.”

He was also seen comforting children by wiping their tears and feeding them during mealtime.

On pages 4 and 5, the newspaper reported on visits to the Revolutionary Martyrs’ Cemetery on Mt. Taesong and the Liberation Tower, which honors the Soviet soldiers who fought against Japanese colonial rule and marked the 79th anniversary of National Liberation Day of Korea.

The article also included a message exchanged with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Kim emphasized the “friendship forged through bloody struggle,” while Putin stressed the importance of “thoroughly implementing the agreements made in Pyongyang.”

Pages 6 to 7 covered various events held nationwide to honor the 79th anniversary of Liberation Day. Workers from central and regional institutions visited the Victorious Fatherland Liberation War Museum, and a youth debate meeting titled Inheriting the Revolutionary Spirit of Baekdu—2024 took place at the Arch of Triumph.

Young students gathered for their events at Arc de Triomphe Plaza, while workers and members of the Women’s Federation hosted their dance at the Pyongyang Sports and Tourism Complex.

The newspaper also reported on the North Korean delegation’s return from the 33rd Paris Olympics on August 15.

On page 8, the newspaper encouraged childbirth by promoting state benefits for families with many children, stating, “Families with many children are blessed.” The newspaper emphasized the need to establish a culture that actively supports and prioritizes women who give birth and raise multiple children, calling for stronger national support measures.
