EtcSouth Korea Halts Flights for 35 Minutes During CSAT English Listening Test

The South Korean Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport (MOLIT) will control aircraft takeoffs and landings nationwide during the English listening section of the 2025 College Scholastic Ability Test.

On Tuesday, MOLIT announced that all domestic and international flights’ takeoffs and landings would be halted for 35 minutes from 1:05 p.m. to 1:40 p.m. on Thursday.

All flights except emergency and urgent flights will be prohibited from taking off and landing during this period. Airborne flights will be required to maintain an altitude of at least 3 kilometers.

As a result of this measure, the schedules of 156 flights (58 international and 98 domestic) will be adjusted, and each airline will provide advance notice of schedule changes to passengers.

To ensure the smooth implementation of this control, MOLIT’s Air Traffic Management Center will maintain real-time, ongoing cooperation with air traffic control agencies, Korea Airports Corporation, Incheon International Airport Corporation, and airlines.

Also, proactive air traffic flow management measures, such as adjusting departure times in advance, will be implemented to minimize delays or prolonged flight time due to air traffic restrictions.

Yoo Kyung Soo, Director of Aviation Safety Policy at MOLIT, stated, “We ask passengers flying on CSAT day to check their departure times carefully and cooperate with this measure aimed at reducing noise during the exam.”
