G-Dragon will take the stage at the 2024 MAMA Awards (MAMA) on Saturday at Kyocera Dome in Osaka, Japan. This marks G-Dragon’s first appearance at MAMA in nine years.
Following the confirmation of G-Dragon’s appearance, Yoon Shin Hye, CP of MAMA, stated ahead of the awards ceremony, “When we were brainstorming how to differentiate this year’s event, we couldn’t help but think of G-Dragon, who has delivered iconic performances at MAMA in the past.”
Yoon added, “We reached out after hearing about his upcoming comeback. We’re confident this will be a performance people will talk about for decades. G-Dragon himself promised to ‘blow everyone away.'”
G-Dragon expressed his intent to “dominate” the stage in conversations with the MAMA production team, hinting at a specially prepared performance. According to insiders, there is a high possibility that G-Dragon, Taeyang, and Daesung will perform together on this year’s MAMA stage. Reports suggest that the three are preparing a full group performance, with Taeyang and Daesung supporting G-Dragon’s new song. This group performance appears to be the reason behind G-Dragon’s confidence in delivering a stage that will dominate.
Moreover, the trio is expected to present G-Dragon’s new song and perform Big Bang’s hit songs, offering fans nostalgia and a significant gift.
The full group performance featuring G-Dragon, Taeyang, and Daesung last occurred in September at Taeyang’s solo concert, where they surprised fans with a guerrilla-style reunion.
