K-pop girl group MEOVV introduced their second single, “TOXIC,” and shared advice from their producer, Teddy, during the 2024 MAMA Awards in Japan.

On Saturday, MEOVV performed at the 2024 MAMA Awards (MAMA), which took place at the Kyocera Dome in Osaka, Japan. The group made a striking impression on local fans by wearing cat masks on stage to express their team identity. Alongside their performance, MEOVV also won the Favorite Rising Artist award.

After the ceremony, MEOVV spoke with News1 about showcasing new aspects of themselves through their latest release. When asked what new sides they revealed, they stated, “Through the two songs, “TOXIC” and “Body,” which have completely contrasting vibes, we were able to show MEOVV’s diverse colors and musical spectrum.”

They added, “In particular, “TOXIC,” which features a minimalist sound, conveys MEOVV’s sincerity and emotional depth. Meanwhile, with “Body,” an energetic performance track, we could show a more intense and confident side.”

When asked about advice from their producer, Teddy, the head of their agency, MEOVV, shared, “He gave us so much advice, but what stood out the most was his emphasis on expressing what we feel honestly and truly enjoying the stage.”

They continued, “Thanks to that advice, we were able to focus more on expressing ourselves freely during this promotion and fully realized the importance of enjoying the stage. His words aren’t just relevant for this promotion but will continue to inspire us in every moment moving forward.”

Looking ahead to their plans for next year, MEOVV said, “Next year, we want to show even more new sides of ourselves through various music and performances. We plan to keep challenging ourselves and growing to deliver deeper emotions and higher-quality performances. We hope to make it a year where we can clearly showcase MEOVV’s unique identity.”

On November 18, MEOVV made its comeback with its second single after just two months, and it plans to actively promote the songs “TOXIC” and “Body.”
