South Korean and U.S. Air Force fighter jets recently conducted joint air drills on the Korean Peninsula.

According to Voice of America (VOA), citing the U.S. Seventh Air Force stationed in South Korea, two F-16 Fighting Falcon fighter jets from the 80th Fighter Squadron at the U.S. Air Force base in Gunsan participated in training on Monday at the Pilseung Range in Gangwon Province. They were joined by three F-15K Slam Eagle fighter jets from the South Korean Air Force.

The training, which included live-fire exercises such as Close Air Support (CAS), saw the two F-16s drop several Mk-82 free-fall bombs while two F-15Ks deployed two GBU-38 Joint Direct Attack Munitions (JDAM) at simulated targets.

The U.S. Seventh Air Force stated that the militaries of South Korea and the United States regularly train together to strengthen bilateral relations and operational readiness, supporting peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula.

On the same day, the U.S. military also conducted a joint air drill with the Japan Air Self-Defense Force near Japanese waters, involving a B-52 strategic bomber.
