Actress Sim Eun Kyeong mourned the passing of Lee Joo Sil.

On Monday, Sim shared a message on her Instagram story, recalling her first time working with Lee in the KBS short drama Kkotnim during her childhood.

She wrote that while she loved acting as a child, she was often nervous. “I still remember how she guided me and helped me stay calm. Her kindness stayed with me throughout my career.”

Sim added that she had always wanted another opportunity to work with Lee. “Lee Joo Sil, may you rest in peace. I am deeply grateful. My heartfelt condolences.”

Lee Joo Sil passed away on Sunday morning at the age of 80 after battling cancer. Born in March 1944, she debuted in 1964 and remained active in numerous films and dramas. Her recent works included the drama Beauty and Mr. Romantic and her final role in Squid Game Season 2, where she played the mother of Hwang Jun Ho (Wi Ha Joon).
