North Korea is intensifying efforts to foster loyalty to the Party and its leader as it commemorates Kim Il Sung’s 113th birthday on Tuesday.
The North Korean Workers’ Party’s official newspaper, Rodong Sinmun, featured an article on its second page titled “The Noble Teachings of Our Great Leader, to be Upheld for Generations,” highlighting Kim Il Sung’s ideology and accomplishments. The paper revisited his vision for future generations by quoting his handwritten message from 36 years ago at the Mangyongdae Children’s Palace: “Children are the treasures of our country. The future of Korea belongs to our children.”
The same page reported that leaders from Mongolia, Nigeria, and Laos sent flower baskets and congratulatory letters for Kim Il Sung’s birth anniversary.
Page 3 of the newspaper covered the “Kim Il Sung 113th Birth Anniversary National Oratory Contest” held at the People’s Palace of Culture on April 11. It also mentioned photo exhibitions featuring Kim Il Sung, Kim Jong Il, and Kim Jong Un, which are taking place nationwide.
The fourth page reported on the successful conclusion of the opening performances of the “9th April Spring People’s Art Festival,” celebrating Kim Il Sung’s birthday in various theaters and halls in Pyongyang. The paper proclaimed that songs praising Pyongyang’s prosperous era and the new age of regional transformation resonated endlessly.
The front page boasted about planting over 660,000 trees, flowers, and shrubs during last fall’s and this spring’s tree-planting seasons, showcasing the progress of the ongoing “Greening the Landscape” initiative in rural areas.
Page 5 reported on the “2025 National Exhibition of Sports, Education, and Science Achievements in the Field of Education” hosted by the Ministry of Education from April 7 to 11 at the Sci-Tech Complex. The newspaper stated that more than 280 educational institutions, including major universities like Kim Il Sung University and the Choson University of Physical Education, participated in this exhibition to discuss advancements in scientific and information-based educational methods.
The sixth page featured a commentary from the Korean Central News Agency criticizing Japan’s international military cooperation. The article alleged that Japan’s recent joint military exercises with NATO and its collaboration with the United States, United Kingdom, and Italy on weapons production and development aim to enhance the war capabilities as a militaristic nation.
