LG Display Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Jeong Cheol-dong emphasized that cost innovation is crucial for survival and that quality is the foundation of customer trust, underscoring his commitment to enhancing business competitiveness and improving quality.

On Monday, LG Display reported that Jeong held a town hall meeting titled CEO On Air in Paju, Gyeonggi Province, the previous day. The event, which shared the company’s first-half performance and second-half objectives, drew over 700 on-site attendees and was live-streamed to employees at both domestic and international locations.

Jeong began by highlighting the significant progress made in cost innovation and quality enhancement during the first half of the year. He attributed these achievements to concerted efforts in restructuring and securing a competitive market edge. Expressing his gratitude, Jeong acknowledged that the tangible results were due to the dedicated efforts of all employees in their respective roles.

He rallied the team to work collectively toward achieving a meaningful turnaround this year and to further solidify these gains by 2026.

However, Jeong cautioned that the latter half of the year presents challenges, including volatility from U.S. tariff policies, sluggish consumer spending, and intensified competition. In light of these headwinds, he stressed the need to accelerate cost innovation to maintain business competitiveness. Jeong identified the improvement of the fundamental cost structure as the top priority, urging a focus on enhancing quality and yield.

Furthermore, he called for fostering innovation through fresh ideas and initiatives to establish a stable revenue stream capable of generating monthly and quarterly operating profits. Jeong emphasized the importance of breaking away from the conventional mindset that accepts the cyclical business pattern of stronger first-half and weaker second-half performance.

In a parallel effort, LG Display is ramping up initiatives to reinvigorate its corporate culture under Jeong’s leadership. The company plans to launch a Praise Day campaign in the second half, encouraging sincere appreciation among colleagues and mentors on the last Thursday of each month. Jeong urged all employees to cultivate a culture of praise and mutual respect as a daily practice.
