Shocking reviews have surfaced about a three-star business hotel where mushrooms were found growing from the ceiling.

On Tuesday, an anonymous post titled, Mushrooms are growing in the room at the ○○○○○ Yeoksam branch, appeared on the workplace community site, Blind.

A user, identified as Mr. A, shared that their family stayed at this hotel for a day while working nearby, and the room was worse than a cheap motel, along with two photos.

The images show mushrooms growing next to the entrance door, with visible mold stains. It appears the ceiling had been exposed to moisture or leaks for an extended period, allowing the fungus to thrive.

The hotel in question is a business hotel launched by a well-known hotel brand, with 15 locations across South Korea.

The branch where Mr. A’s family stayed is confirmed to be a three-star facility. Mr. A expressed disbelief, saying things such as, is ○○ Hotel going out of business? How neglected must the rooms be for mushrooms to grow on the ceiling? He added that at first, he thought it was exposed wiring. Further, noting that one side even looked like it had dried out, suggesting it’s been that way for a while.

He continued by saying that he started feeling unwell while in the room, which was odd. He discovered the mushrooms while drinking water and glancing at the ceiling. He emphasized that this doesn’t happen overnight – it must have been neglected for days!

Mr. A then asked where he should I file a complaint and he immediately informed the lobby and switched rooms. He urged that if there’s a manager in this community, to take a look.

Mr. A also criticized that it’s barely fit to be called a motel, and he can only imagine how much mold is lurking behind the scenes.

After seeing this, one commenter shared that this is truly alarming and they’ve stayed at another branch and felt the cleaning was subpar. The commenter added that there was a foul odor in the shower and noticed mold stains in the bathroom. Further highlighting that it seems this hotel chain has serious maintenance issues.

Other users reacted with comments like, “Looks like a mushroom farm,” “Did you book the ‘Mushroom Suite’?,” “That branch is notoriously bad,” “There’s also a sewage smell in those rooms,” “I nearly passed out from the towel odor when I stayed there,” “How is this even possible?” “It’s more like a flophouse,” and “Is this tomorrow’s breakfast menu?”
