Netflix’s animated film KPop Demon Hunters has shattered records, becoming the most-watched movie in the platform’s history.

According to Netflix’s Tudum Top 10 website on Wednesday, KPop Demon Hunters has amassed an impressive 236 million views, cementing its position as Netflix’s all-time most popular film. The total viewing time has soared to 393.3 million hours.

With this achievement, KPop Demon Hunters has surpassed the previous record of 230.9 million views held by the 2021 blockbuster Red Notice, starring Dwayne Johnson, Ryan Reynolds, and Gal Gadot. This milestone comes just two months after KPop Demon Hunters‘ Netflix debut on June 20.

KPop Demon Hunters is an action-packed fantasy animation that follows the K-pop superstar girl group HuntRix, featuring members Rumi, Mira, and Zoey, who lead double lives as secret heroes protecting the world behind their dazzling stage personas. The film has sparked a global phenomenon with its intriguing plot, wherein after uncovering the true identity of the boy group Saja Boys, the girl group—doubling as Demon Hunters—takes on the demonic forces. Adding star power to the English dub are Korean actors Ahn Hyo Seop and Lee Byung Hun.

Two months post-release, KPop Demon Hunters‘ popularity shows no signs of waning. The fictional K-pop girl group Huntr/x’s hit song “Golden” has reclaimed the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart as of August 30, marking its triumphant return to number one after a two-week hiatus. “Golden” has made history as the first K-pop song to top the Hot 100 in two years and the first-ever K-pop girl group track to achieve this feat. This second stint at number one further cements its record-breaking status.

The success extends beyond “Golden,” with other tracks from the film also dominating the Hot 100’s top ten. The fictional K-pop boy group Saja Boys sees their song “Your Idol” claiming the fourth spot, while “Soda Pop” secures fifth place. Not to be outdone, Huntr/x’s “How It’s Done” rounds out the top ten, showcasing the film’s musical impact across the board.
