Global gastrointestinal stent specialist M.I. Tech held an opening ceremony for its Vietnamese production subsidiary, M.I. Tech Plant Vina, at the Dong Nam Industrial Park in Ho Chi Minh City on Friday.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Kwak Jae-oh and key executives from the company’s headquarters attended the event in person. Following the ribbon-cutting ceremony, the executives posed for commemorative photos with local staff and conducted a thorough tour of the production facilities, offering words of encouragement to employees.

M.I. Tech Plant Vina boasts a production facility spanning approximately 1,000 square meters (about 10,764 square feet) within Ho Chi Minh City’s Dong Nam Industrial Park. The factory produces semi-finished medical devices, including gastrointestinal (GI) stents. Currently employing around 50 staff members, the company plans to gradually expand its workforce.

M.I. Tech has methodically progressed through various stages of development, beginning with the launch of the Vietnam project in May 2025, followed by the factory lease signing and production environment setup in August of the same year, and culminating in the factory’s completion in March 2026. The company aims to fully operationalize M.I. Tech Plant Vina in the latter half of this year, with plans to reach maximum production capacity by 2028.

The Vietnamese facility is a key component of M.I. Tech’s long-term strategy to diversify its global supply chain. The company intends to enhance its global market presence by focusing on production stability, strengthening local workforce capabilities, and improving process efficiency.

CEO Kwak emphasized that M.I. Tech Plant Vina represents a crucial production hub designed to meet the growing global demand reliably. It’s committed to leveraging our exceptional quality and stable supply capabilities to solidify the position as a leading global medical device company.

M.I. Tech specializes in non-vascular stents, developing and manufacturing stents for gastrointestinal, biliary, and bronchial applications. The company has established a strong global competitive edge, particularly in its flagship gastrointestinal (GI) stent sector, and currently supplies products to over 100 countries worldwide.
