Regarding the massive shooting and fire incident that occurred in Moscow, Russia, on the 22nd (local time), it has been determined that there were no South Korean casualties reported.

The South Korean Embassy in Russia stated on the 23rd, “We are assessing the situation of our nationals through local media reports and the Korean community. So far, no casualties among our nationals have been identified.”

The embassy advised, “South Korean nationals residing in Russia should particularly avoid the area of the shooting incident and nearby regions, especially places with a high risk of terrorism, such as facilities used by many people, and pay special attention to their safety.”

As of last year, it is estimated that about 3,600 Koreans reside throughout Russia.

On the 22nd (local time), an indiscriminate shooting by an armed assailant followed by a fire occurred at Crocus City Hall, a concert venue in the northwestern part of Moscow.

The Russian Federal Security Service reported that the incident resulted in 40 deaths and over 100 injuries.

Russian authorities have classified this event as a terrorist act and are conducting an investigation. The Federal Security Service and police have been deployed to control the scene, and security measures have been heightened in airports, train stations, subways, and across Moscow.
