The announcement was made after their performance at ComplexCon Hong Kong 2025, held at AsiaWorld-Expo on Sunday. In an emotional moment, the members read letters to their fans. Danielle and Hanni spoke in English, while Minji, Haerin, and Hyein addressed the audience in Korean.
NewJeans members recently received a court order prohibiting independent activities, so they temporarily paused their performances during a Hong Kong show.
Speaking in English, Hanni said, “We’re so thankful to our Bunnies for being here today. It’s hard to say, but this might be our last performance for a while. To respect the court’s decision, we’ve made the tough choice to pause all activities effective immediately. This wasn’t an easy decision, but we believe it’s the right thing to do right now.”
Haerin also expressed similar sentiments in Korean, stating, “We’ve decided to temporarily halt our activities out of respect for the court’s ruling. It’s a tough decision, but one we believe is necessary at this moment.”
The members also reassured their fans that they would persevere and continue forward despite the difficult circumstances.

Danielle shared, “We knew from the beginning that this journey would be challenging. While we respect the court’s decision, we felt it was important to speak up for the values we believe in. We don’t regret that decision. Standing up for our dignity and rights was necessary, and that conviction is as strong as ever.”
Minji added, “We started this journey fully aware of how tough it would be. Even though we accepted the court’s decision, we raised our voices to protect what we believe in. We stand by that choice.”
Hanni acknowledged, “We know this news is tough for many of our Bunnies. It wasn’t an easy decision for us, but we promise we’ll return even stronger.”
Hyein shared, “We know this news might upset a lot of our Bunnies. Some of you might think we should’ve held on longer, but for us, it’s about taking care of ourselves. We believe this is the only way we can come back with confidence. That’s why we don’t regret this decision.”
Hyein continued, her voice trembling, “Honestly, I’ve been mentally drained, and it’s been really tough. There were so many things I wanted to share with our Bunnies and so many fun plans we had. The love and support we felt from our Bunnies at ComplexCon in Hong Kong means the world to us.” She added, “No matter what, we’ll keep moving forward.”
Minji concluded, “We respect the court’s decision. We’re stepping back to recharge, gather our strength, and refocus. Please know this isn’t the end. We’ll definitely be back, and when we do, we can’t wait to greet you all with big smiles.”
On Friday, the Seoul Central District Court’s Civil Division 50, led by Chief Judge Kim Sang Hoon, granted a temporary injunction requested by HYBE and its label ADOR. The injunction is meant to maintain NewJeans’ agency affiliation and prevent the members—Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein—from signing individual advertising contracts, effectively stopping their solo activities.
Following the court’s decision, ADOR released an official statement saying, “Now that NewJeans’ affiliation with our agency is legally confirmed, we’ll continue fully supporting our artists moving forward. We’ll provide full support for the ComplexCon performance on Sunday, which will take place under the name of ADOR’s NewJeans.”
Last November, NewJeans held an emergency press conference to announce their decision to leave ADOR due to unresolved issues with the company. They stated that their exclusive contract would officially end at midnight on November 29, 2024, after which they planned to focus on independent projects.
In December, the members created new social media accounts. In January, they hosted a contest to select a new group name. By February, they revealed their new name: NJZ.
