LG Electronics announced on Monday that it has been awarded the Creativity Team Award at General Motors’ 33rd Annual Supplier of the Year event, held recently in Arizona.
The recognition comes from LG’s innovative automotive electronic component solutions that have redefined in-vehicle entertainment and connectivity.
Each year, General Motors evaluates supplier performance across purchasing, engineering, quality, manufacturing, and logistics, and selects companies as its Suppliers of the Year based on their contributions to GM’s business performance and alignment with its core values and vision.
LG Electronics has been named the Supplier of the Year seven times since 2014, underscoring the innovation and excellence of its automotive electronic component solutions.
In the realm of customer service and after-sales service parts supply, LG has received the On Time Shipping (OTS) Award for three consecutive years, starting in 2023. LG achieved a 99% on-time delivery rate for service parts supplied to General Motors in North America, earning a Gold Award in March. Last year, LG also secured a Platinum Award for achieving a 100% on-time delivery rate for parts supplied to GM Korea and Brazil.
LG Electronics is actively responding to market and customer needs in the transition towards software-defined vehicles (SDVs). The company is accelerating the advancement of products and technologies across key automotive electronic component areas, including in-vehicle infotainment, telematics, and advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS).
Through these efforts, LG has established itself as a leading player in the telematics sector, a core component of SDVs. Based on estimates derived from Strategy Analytics data, LG captured a 24.4% global market share in telematics last year, securing the top position worldwide.
LG’s differentiated solution, LG AlphaWare, comprises several components: PlayWare, a vehicle entertainment solution; MetaWare, which leverages augmented reality (AR), mixed reality (MR), and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies to provide drivers with useful information and immersive in-vehicle experiences; and VisionWare, an ADAS solution that uses AI algorithms and camera sensors to analyze driver and passenger behavior, prevent accidents, and assist with driving.
Additionally, LG has become the first to apply its proprietary smart TV platform OS, webOS, to commercial electric vehicles, bringing its vision of transforming vehicles into mobile living spaces closer to reality.
Eun Seok-hyun, vice president of LG Electronics’ Vehicle Solutions Company said that this award demonstrates their continuous efforts in developing innovative automotive solutions and ensuring reliable supply. They will strengthen their partnerships with customers by providing integrated mobility solutions that encompass both hardware and software.
