On Thursday, LG CNS announced that the company has secured contracts to establish electric vehicle (EV) charging stations and control systems in New York City and smart pole infrastructure in Hogansville, a city in Georgia. This marks a significant milestone as LG CNS’s first contract win in the U.S. public market.

LG CNS recently signed a pilot project agreement with the New York City Economic Development Corporation to build electric vehicle chargers (EVC) and an energy management control system at the Brooklyn Army Terminal.

The Brooklyn Army Terminal is an industrial complex in New York City that supports the commercialization of startup technologies. LG CNS’s participation in this project stems from the DX Partnership MOU signed with New York City last year in November.

The company will establish charging stations and a charging, discharging control system and a user app for real-time energy usage monitoring.

The control system will incorporate LG CNS’s proprietary smart city platform, Cityhub Building.

Cityhub Building leverages Internet of Things (IoT) technology to support remote monitoring and control of various facilities, power usage tracking, and digital signage operation.

Users can access services through the app, including checking and charging status and real-time availability of charging stations.

LG CNS plans to expand its New York City operations by supplying Level 3 fast chargers and energy storage systems (ESS).

In Hogansville, Georgia, LG CNS has inked a deal to implement smart poles and an integrated control system. The smart poles will feature various smart city technologies, including lighting control, public Wi-Fi, AI-powered CCTV, and environmental sensors. The project will also include the installation of EVCs, digital signage, and emergency call buttons.

LG CNS aims to use this project as a springboard to expand its operations to nearby LaGrange and West Point in Georgia.

Hyun Shin-Gyoon, CEO of LG CNS, expressed that the company’s recent wins in U.S. smart city infrastructure projects reflect growing global recognition of its digital transformation capabilities. He noted that LG CNS is dedicated to playing a leading role in building a sustainable future.
