Apple’s next-generation iOS 19 is set to be unveiled at the upcoming Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2025.

According to tech news outlet 9to5Mac on Monday, iOS 19 will feature a significant change in the location of in-app search bars.

Initial reports of a complete overhaul for iOS 19 led many to anticipate primarily aesthetic updates. However, the redesign is now expected to bring substantial functional improvements as well.

Tech insider Jon Prosser reports that this change will be particularly impactful for users of larger iPhone models. In iOS 19, app search bars are slated to move to the bottom of the screen, marking a notable shift from their current position. This relocation will place the search function in a more ergonomic spot, easily accessible with users’ thumbs.

Currently in iOS 18, standard in-app search bars are positioned near the top of the screen. This layout can pose accessibility challenges for one-handed use, especially on larger iPhone models.

In related news, the iPhone 17 Air, scheduled for release this fall, is expected to showcase an even larger display than its predecessors.
