Samsung SDI announced on Wednesday that it has been recognized as an outstanding global partner by winning the JLRQ Award from global automaker Jaguar Land Rover (JLR).

Founded in 2008, JLR manufactures luxury and SUV brands including Jaguar and Land Rover.

The JLRQ Award, established in 2010, is presented annually to select partners that supply high-quality products on time, recognizing their excellence.

Through this award, Samsung SDI’s product technology and quality have been officially certified as those of a top-tier partner.

Since 2018, Samsung SDI has been supplying 21700 cylindrical batteries (21 mm in diameter and 70 mm in height) for JLR’s premium models such as the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport.

The all-new Range Rover and all-new Range Rover Sport, launched last year, are also equipped with Samsung SDI batteries, reaffirming the strong partnership between the two companies.

The 21,700 cylindrical batteries are optimized for fast charging and long lifespan, featuring high-nickel NCA cathode materials and proprietary silicon anode technology developed by Samsung SDI.

The award ceremony, held Wednesday at Samsung SDI’s Tianjin branch in China, was attended by key executives, including Nick Wells, Vice President and Head of Purchasing for JLR’s China and Asia-Pacific region. Representing Samsung SDI were senior officials including Vice President Park Jung-Jun, Head of Quality.
