Samsung Electronics reported that it is set to launch the world’s first organic light-emitting diode (OLED) gaming monitor with an ultra-high 500Hz refresh rate, the Odyssey OLED G6.
This cutting-edge monitor supports a 500Hz refresh rate and a response time as low as 0.03ms (GTG), ensuring seamless and immersive gameplay even in the most demanding gaming environments.
The global rollout will begin on Monday, starting with Singapore, Vietnam, Malaysia, and Thailand, and then expanding worldwide.
The Odyssey OLED G6 (G60SF) boasts a 27-inch quantum dot (QD)-OLED panel, featuring a peak brightness of 1000 nits, quad high definition (QHD) (2560 x 1440) resolution, and high dynamic range 10+ (HDR10+) gaming support.
It incorporates OLED Glare Free technology to minimize light reflections for enhanced clarity and OLED Safeguard+ technology to prevent burn-in issues.
The monitor also supports AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and is Nvidia G-SYNC Compatible, reducing screen tearing in high-performance games for a smoother gaming experience.
In a first for gaming monitors, the Odyssey OLED G6 has received both PANTONE Validated and PANTONE SkinTone Validated certifications, ensuring accurate color reproduction.
Its versatile stand offers height adjustment, tilt, pivot, and swivel functions for user convenience. It also has Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA) wall mount compatibility, dual high-definition multimedia interface (HDMI) 2.1 ports, a DisplayPort 1.4, and a universal serial bus (USB) hub.
Jung Hoon, Executive Vice President of Samsung Electronics’ Visual Display Business, said the company is thrilled to introduce the world’s first OLED gaming monitor with a groundbreaking 500Hz refresh rate. Samsung Electronics’ commitment to display innovation will continue as it strives to deliver the most immersive gaming experiences to players worldwide.
Market research firm IDC reports that Samsung Electronics has maintained its top position in the global OLED monitor market for two consecutive years since entering the segment in 2022. The company has also dominated the global gaming monitor market for six straight years, first claiming the top spot in 2019.
