Key specifications of the Android Extended Reality (XR) headset, “Project Infinity,” developed in collaboration between Samsung and Google, were unveiled on Tuesday.

TechRadar reports that Samsung’s XR headset (model SM-I610) recently appeared in the Geekbench benchmark database. The listing was spotted by a Twitter user (@yabhishekhd), who confirmed that the model number aligns with Project Infinity.

According to the Geekbench listing, Project Infinity will be powered by Qualcomm’s latest XR-specific chipset, the Snapdragon XR2+ 2nd Generation. This chipset, announced earlier this year, boasts features such as full-color passthrough, low-latency Wi-Fi 7, and Space Warp technology designed to reduce motion sickness.

The hardware specifications are equally impressive. Project Infinity is set to include 16GB of RAM and will likely run on Android 14. This suggests it could serve as the foundation for Google’s recently announced Android XR, a platform specifically designed for augmented reality (AR) applications.

TechRadar, having experienced Project Infinity firsthand at the recent Google I/O 2025 event, highlighted the seamless integration with Google’s AI model, Gemini. One standout demonstration showed the headset identifying tree species in real-time and providing relevant information based on what the user was viewing.

Samsung and Google are positioning XR as an all-encompassing concept that includes virtual reality (VR), mixed reality (MR), and augmented reality (AR). Their goal is to offer a diverse range of experiences that seamlessly blend the digital and physical worlds.
