OpenAI has unveiled new connectivity features for ChatGPT, as reported by iTHOME on June 5, following the announcement made on June 4.
Premium subscribers can now access a range of external resources, including Outlook, Teams, Google Drive, Gmail, and Linear. ChatGPT Team, Enterprise, and Edu users have additional connectivity options with SharePoint, Dropbox, and Box. However, this feature is currently unavailable in the European Economic Area (EEA), Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.
OpenAI is also exploring the Model Context Protocol (MCP), an open-source tool developed by Anthropic. This protocol enables organizations to create custom connectors, allowing AI assistants to access various data sources through a unified standard. The MCP is available to ChatGPT Team, Enterprise, Edu, and Pro users. In a separate development, the macOS version of ChatGPT Team now includes a voice recording feature. This new tool can record meetings, brainstorming sessions, and voice memos, automatically transcribing them and summarizing key points.
CNBC reports that OpenAI’s paid business subscriptions have seen remarkable growth, surpassing 3 million users. This represents a significant increase from 2 million in February 2024. The platform reached 600,000 subscribers in April 2024, growing to 1 million by September, and ultimately hitting the 3 million mark by June 2025. Sarah Friar, OpenAI’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO), revealed that 75% of the company’s revenue is generated from consumer subscriptions.
