Apple is set to unveil a groundbreaking user interface called “Liquid Glass” alongside its next-generation iOS 26.

9to5Mac reported that this innovative design will incorporate transparent, glass-like materials and reflective visual effects on iPhones. These striking glass and reflection elements are expected to be integrated across all basic iPhone UI controls, including buttons, toolbars, and tab bars.

Home screen app icons are also slated for a makeover, featuring a new rounded design with the potential addition of a luminous reflective effect on icon borders. Apple’s other operating systems—macOS, watchOS, iPadOS, and tvOS—will undergo similar transformations, adopting Liquid Glass UI elements and refreshed icon sets. While the overall UI layout, navigation, and interactions will be tailored to each device’s form factor, this comprehensive overhaul aims to significantly enhance the consistency of Apple’s software experience across its ecosystem.

9to5Mac also noted that this glass-inspired theme is likely to complement forthcoming iPhone hardware changes, including an all-screen design and curved edges, anticipated for release in 2027.
